Thinking about trying Pilates but not sure if it’s for you?
If you're in your 30s, 40s, 50s (or beyond) and feeling like your body is asking for something different - something kinder, more grounding, more effective without being punishing - this is your sign.
Here at Pausa Pilates, we specialise in helping women feel stronger, calmer and more confident in their bodies, no matter how long it's been since you last moved (or how unsure you feel).
What is beginner Pilates?
Beginner Pilates is a low-impact, core-focused movement practice that helps you:
Improve posture and balance
Strengthen muscles without joint stress
Reduce stiffness, aches, and general “midlife meh”
Learn how to breathe better and move more mindfully
It’s slow, controlled and incredibly effective, especially for women who feel disconnected from their bodies.
“I was nervous to try anything new after so long. But I quickly realised Pausa isn’t about perfection - it’s about support.”
Why start Pilates in midlife?
Because your body has changed and your movement should too.
Hormones, stress, energy levels and life pressures all shift in this stage. You might be feeling:
Anxious, overstimulated, tense
Drained or flat, with no motivation
Stiff in your back, hips or shoulders
Out of breath, out of sync, and out of your comfort zone
Pilates helps with all of that.
And unlike fast-paced fitness trends, it works with your body not against it.
What to expect from a beginner-friendly class

When you’re just starting out, the environment matters as much as the movement. At Pausa, all of our sessions - whether menopause-focused or event-based - are beginner-inclusive by design:
We check in before we begin - how are you feeling today?
Movements are clearly explained, with plenty of options
You’ll build strength gently, focusing on control and breath
The vibe is relaxed, warm and non-judgemental
There’s no pressure to perform. You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t even need to know the names of the exercises. You just need to be there and give it a go.
Our menopause sessions are beginner-friendly by design
Most women in midlife are in some phase of perimenopause or post-menopause whether they realise it or not. That’s why our menopause Pilates classes are designed to be both supportive and accessible, even if you’ve never stepped onto a mat before.
These classes focus on breath, balance, mobility, and mood, with strength building that meets you exactly where you are.
If you’re looking for a beginner-friendly reintroduction to movement in a safe and welcoming space, this is it.
