You’ve probably seen the posts about 80s Pilates now in Brighton. You’ve heard the music. But you might still be wondering…
What is 80s Pilates and is it for me?

If you’re a woman in your 30s, 40s or 50s who wants to move your body, lift your mood and feel like 'yourself' again, the answer is: yes. Let me show you why...
First things first: what it isn’t
Let’s clear this up right away:
- It’s not a full-on dance class
- It’s not a sweaty HIIT session
- And it’s definitely not a cheesy leotard party (unless you 'want' it to be!)
This isn’t about performance. It’s about fun, flow and feeling good in your body.
So what 'is' 80s Pilates?
It’s your favourite feel-good Pilates session, turned up with a nostalgic twist. Not done Pilates before? Then just think of it as the perfect opportunity to try it for the first time, in a fun environment!
We blend classic Pilates moves (think glutes, core, mobility, balance) with a playlist of absolute bangers from the 1980s. Add some mood lighting (disco lights thieved from my son), a bunch of like-minded women, and the kind of energy that makes you forget you’re even working out - and you’ve got the vibe.
“This class is my monthly release. I leave feeling strong, uplifted, and smiling the whole way home.” This is what I want all of you to feel when you leave the class.
Who’s it for?
If you’re:
- Anyone between 30-50 who has arms, legs and a good taste in music
- Feeling a bit flat or disconnected from your body (or your sense of self!)
- Craving something 'fun' that doesn’t leave you wiped out
- New to Pilates or returning to movement
...then this class was made for you.
No pressure. No mirrors. No choreography to remember. Just movement that meets you where you are.
What actually happens in an 80s Pilates class in Brighton?
We start with a gentle (ish) warm-up, then move through a series of accessible but effective Pilates exercises - set to a soundtrack of 80s feel-good gold.
Expect:
- Controlled strength-building (hello glutes and core)
- Balance and mobility work
- Breathing and body awareness
- An optional shimmy or two (yes, really)
Whether you want to laugh, let go, or just reconnect with your body, the door is open.
“There’s nothing else like it, it’s low-impact but high-energy in all the right ways.” Abi
Why we do it
Because movement should feel good. Because midlife women deserve joy and energy without punishment. And because Pilates can be fun - especially when paired with retro tunes and a room full of people who get it.
